On August 5, an intense convective storm struck Ust-Kamenogorsk (Oskemen) in eastern Kazakhstan. Within minutes, summer heat turned into extreme weather, with wind gusts reaching nearly 28 m/s (100 km/h), torrential downpours, and unusually large hail.

The sudden storm temporarily left around 25,000 residents without electricity due to infrastructure impacts, while falling branches and rapid water accumulation blocked several city streets. Municipal crews and emergency teams immediately mobilized to clear roadways and restore power.
