Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Embassy of India, Astana, Mrs. Nalini Singhal visited Karaganda and held warm and fruitful interactions with representatives of the Kazakhstan Academy of Yoga led by Swami Akhileshwananda Saraswati (Alexander Bondarenko) and his dedicated team.

The discussions highlighted the remarkable contribution of the Academy towards promotion of yoga and healthy lifestyle in Kazakhstan over the past 34 years, including the activities of its 12 yoga schools functioning under the Academy across the region.

During the visit, Director SVCC also visited the proposed venue for the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 celebrations at the Central Park of Karaganda — one of the city’s iconic public spaces with significant public participation and outreach potential.

The visit further included participation in an open yoga workshop organized at the LA Sports Complex as part of the pre-IDY 2026 countdown activities, bringing together yoga practitioners and local residents in the spirit of wellness, harmony and community engagement.
