Stepping right into the heart of downtown Almaty, I found myself on bustling Arbat Street walking into a high-end, upper level barbershop that completely exceeded my expectations.

Kazakhstan's grooming scene is on a whole different tier, and I was eager to see how these master barbers handled a traditional shave.

​The main event was an unforgettable straight razor shave utilizing more than one blade, and the technique here is wild, the barbers light their razors on fire right before the shave. Having that warm steel glide across my face felt incredible, keeping the blade warm during every stroke. The precision was absolute perfection, resulting in a flawless, clean finish with zero blood.

​The shop itself maintains an upscale, welcoming vibe, treating every client to a complimentary coffee, tea, or cappuccino while they wait. For anyone who loves relaxation content, the crisp clipping sounds, rich lathering, and gentle scraping create a deeply satisfying unintentional ASMR experience that is perfect for winding down or falling asleep to.

​Once the pampering was wrapped up, my mom, Carla Marie Rupp, and I headed just around the corner to Community Bar. It’s an awesome local hangout right in the neighborhood where we kicked back with some incredible Kazakhstan craft beers and shared a few laughs with the locals.
